Our Guiding Principles

  • We do not own the land where we volunteer, and therefore abide by regulations in force in the Riverside Park and by the canal.

  • We do not own the swans nor treat them like pets. They and their nests and eggs are protected by law, so all volunteers must comply with The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

  • We respect the rights and needs of other park users and minimize the disruption of their enjoyment of the park due to our activities. Socialising and most other meetings occur away from the river so that we are fully available to the swans and the public during our volunteering.
